I don't believe CeBIT are directly responsible, but I hope they take this on board in terms of exhibitor criteria and guidelines in future, because it detracts hugely. I for one didnt go to the CeBit exhibits this year because last year, there were babes in the teeniest bikinis jumping up and down in a jacuzzi all day. Wtf? The purpose? To demonstrate the effectiveness of a little condom-like cover to protect your mobile phone whilst enjoying watersports! Truely!
Well, it just dumbs everything down and that is about all I remember of CeBit 2009....hardly what the business-like exhibitors paying lots of money for participation would like as an ROI! I work in IT and we combine fun with IT all the time...the difference is clever fun...not dumb fun!

Hi,

As a man in the technology industry i see this a lot and it is completely a waste of time.

People are far smarter and make informed decision on what to invest in rather than oggle Girls with not much on. To use this technique when trying to aim product at business women and investors is just short sighted and offensive. These girls are normally promotional girls or models that have no idea about the brand or merchandise they are trying to support.

Generally the booths with the girls are usually the products or companies that have an inferior market strategy or product to push in the first place.

If you want old school technique that works - match the product and marketing around unique product features that meets customer needs.

Just goes to show that 20 years after establishing WNA to address the business needs and challenges faced by women in the market place not much has changed. Cebit might see themselves as technology experts but this display of poor judgment (sexpo) certainly shows they are dinosaurs when it comes to business etiquette and having clearly defined diversity policies. If this is what they do in public can you imagine what being a women in their employment entails and what goes on behind closed doors. And the employers question why women continue to leave their companies and start their own businesses Oh Please!! But what we need to remember is that young women agreed to stand there and play the part on the day. The Playboy Mansion, pj wearing Hugh Hefner and Cebit have much to answer for.
